Moon Palace Resort Timeshare and How to Get Discounts Through a Global Resorts Network Membership

This is my true, personal story, about why I know, first hand, that owning a Global Resorts Network Membership is Better than Owning a Timeshare, even at the beautiful and popular Moon Palace Resort. The bottom line is SAVINGS of THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS on your family and friend's vacations and still being able to travel to at least some of the Palace Resorts properties or requesting a vacation at Moon Palace Resort through the Global Resorts Network membership.

If you care about saving thousands of dollars, you will want to listen to my story before you decide to purchase a Moon Palace Resort timeshare or even if you already own a timeshare. With a Global Resorts Network Membership you will never have to purchase a timeshare and if you already own one and are tired of being stifled because you have limited choices of vacation spots and you don't like paying the high maintenance fees, you will still want to read on. I am a member now and I only wish that someone had told me about this before I spent over $70,000 on timeshare purchases.

Here is where my story begins. I have personally owned two timeshares. I purchased a Global Resorts Network Membership three years after buying my last timeshare which was purchased at the Moon Palace Resort. My first timeshare was with Fairfield and was a points timeshare which allowed me to travel pretty much anywhere I wanted to one time a year during the best weeks. RCI was my timeshare exchange company.

After using RCI to go to the Beach Palace Resort in Cancun Mexico, I was hit hard by the timeshare sales people. I gave in to the high pressured sales tactics literally after 4 hours of bantering back and forth in front of the salesperson. They talked me into trading my first timeshare with Fairfield for my newest timeshare with the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

The value they put on my Fairfield timeshare was apx. $18,000. However, I paid about $11,000 for the Fairfield timeshare initially and paid maintenance fees of about $500 for many years. I did go on vacation every year and did use my week, but I never made back my initial investment. $18,000 seemed like a fair trade in price. My second timeshare with Moon Palace Resort cost me, with my trade in allowance of the $18,000, over $58,000 for 280 vacation weeks. I did receive about $35,000 in free incentive weeks, however, even with that, I think I was swept away by the beauty of Cancun because my business mind completely left me.

I was thinking that I would be able to easily sell this magnificent timeshare I had purchased if I no longer needed it or wanted it and that I could rent the weeks that I wasn't able to use or pass the membership along to my family.

I was able to rent some of my Moon Palace Resort timeshare weeks through Ebay, but have not been able to sell my timeshare which has been on the market for three years, advertised through a variety of companies at 50% of it's original price.

You may ask why I just don't continue to vacation with my Palace Resorts timeshare on a regular basis. It's pretty simple. Every time I have to travel to Moon Palace Resort or any of the Palace Resort properties I still have to pay the mandatory all-inclusive fee. Those fees range from a low of $1500 for two for the week to a high of almost $7000 for a presidential suite. So, on top of the $58,000 I paid (plus my $18,000 trade in), I still have to pay every time I travel. Even with my exchange company, RCI, my exchange fee to travel anywhere outside of my home resort, is almost $700 for a week.

So why in the world would I ever join a discount travel club membership like Global Resorts Network when I already own a timeshare? (I have my timeshare up for sale (you can see the details by clicking here) I want to travel at huge discounts for the rest of my life. I want my children to be able to travel at huge discounts for the rest of their lives too.

A Global Resorts Network membership allows me the freedom to travel when and where I want, as many times as I want, per year at great discounts to timeshare properties WITHOUT having to own a timeshare. There are NO maintenance fees. You pay a one time membership fee to join for a lifetime of 100 years (which is transferrable and willable) and then you only pay as you go. The most you will pay is $799 for a week and that could be for two people and even up to 8 people depending on the accomodations you choose. You will even be offered what are called HOT WEEKS where you and your family can travel for as low as $298 for a week. There is never a need ever again to buy a timeshare. You will need the facts and if you want to see them laid out in black and white, click here.

What does this have to do with buying a timeshare at Moon Palace Resort? You can request a week at Moon Palace Resort through the membership or several other Palace Resorts without having to buy the timeshare! You will have to pay the all inclusive fee, but you will find that you will still save about $500 on your week of travel even with the all inclusive fee and paying for the week. If Moon Palace Resort is not available, you can choose to request one of the other Palace Resorts that Global Resorts Network already has or is developing a relationship with in their Registry of Resorts.

Don't waste your money on buying a timeshare ever again. With a Global Resorts Network Membership, there is no need to. You and your family and friends can enjoy a lifetime of travel, worry free. By the way, there are discounts on cruises, airfare, hotel stays, car rentals - all as part of the membership.Visit the website and you will be pleasantly surprised at what a Global Resorts Network Membership can do for you. Moon Palace Resort - What Happens After You Check In?

You've arrived at Moon Palace Resort, have gone through the check in process at the front desk. The attendants have helped escort you to your room with your luggage. They open the front door to your room and what will you see?

Moon Palace Resort offers very nicely appointed rooms. They are suitable for no more than four people and most comfortable for two. You will encounter marble floors (so be careful walking when you are wet), and depending on what you chose, you will have either two double beds or one king sized bed. You may or may not have a new flat screen TV depending on what part of Moon Palace Resort you are staying in.

The bed spreads will be cheerful and bright. The beds may be a bit hard for some, but most of your time will be spent outdoors anyway. There is a mini refrigerator that they will keep stocked for you. If you run out of items, all you have to do is call room service and they will replenish anything you need.

The bathrooms are a very nice size, clean and modern looking. The jacuzzi is built for two people and typically overlooks the balcony which may overlook gardens or the ocean. It's a wonderful treat for relaxation. The balconies are a good size and a great place to sit and order room service for a relaxing meal.

Your room will be comfortable and inviting but too small for five and may be a bit cramped for four adults. Two adults and two children should be quite comfortable in the Moon Palace Resort rooms.

Moon Palace Resort - Arriving at the Resort

Upon your arrival at the Moon Palace Resort, you will see many of the Moon Palace Resort staff waiting on the steps leading up to the main lobby of the resort. Once you are dropped off, the staff will take over by assisting you with loading your luggage onto a cart or helping you to carry it to the lobby. A general rule of thumb to follow is to leave a $1 tip per bag (although if you are on an all inclusive trip this is certainly not mandatory, but a nice gesture).

You will walk into one of the most impressive lobbies in all of Cancun. The Moon Palace Resort lobby boasts of marble columns and amazing stained glass ceilings surrounded by lots of hustle and bustle as many vacationers check in and check out at the same times. You will be escorted to a seat to wait for a reservationist or if they are not very busy, you will be escorted to the reservation desk where you will check in. You will receive more information about the Moon Palace Resort, your keys, and receive answers to any other questions you may have. If you wish to exchange your currency, there is a currency exchange desk on site. If you need money from an ATM, there is an ATM in the lobby as well.

You will see many shops and lots of restaurants. There is so much to do at the Moon Palace Resort so you will want to get right to your room, get settled and get ready to explore your amazing surroundings. The attendant will then show you to your room.

Moon Palace Resort - The Ride to The Resort

Once you have left the Cancun airport and have chosen your means of transportation whether it be by the van provided by [Moon Palace Resort], a taxi or a bus, you will have a fairly short ride to the resort.

Most of the time you will get a driver who will be cordial although not real talkative. Sometimes this is because the driver might not speak a lot of English. Other times it's because he is waiting for you to ask him questions. If his English is good enough he will usually open up and relax and you can have a great ride to the Moon Palace Resort.

The other interesting thing about the ride to Moon Palace is if you are in a van, you may meet people from other countries. This makes the ride a lot of fun. You can get to know each other and a little bit about each other's cultures. Even though you will only be in the van for about 15-20 minutes, it's still great to have a conversation with someone you don't know.

The scenery will be fairly boring on the way. There isn't much to see. The area doesn't look very nice and you will see some minor poverty, but mostly you will see gray streets and nothing really worth noticing. You may see lots of Mexican workers building roads and resorts. They will be working in the hot sun in long pants and shirts for the most part. It's hard to believe they can even work in the hot conditions.

As you approach the Moon Palace Resort you will enter a gate where a security guard will check in the vehicle. You will continue down a long road for what seems like forever, but then you will see the amazing Moon Palace right in front of you.

For more information on the Moon Palace Resort visit: http://www.dreamcancunresorts.com/

When you arrive, the driver will help you with your luggage and so will the attendents waiting for you on the steps. They are typically very gracious and helpful and even though you may be on an all inclusive trip, don't forget to tip. They really don't make very much money.

Moon Palace Resort Cancun - Arrival at the Airport

Getting to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun is fairly easy. The trip from the airport is only about a 15 minute ride. If you are traveling as a guest of a VIP member, your ground transporation to and from the airport is included in the cost of your all inclusive week. If not, a taxi or van will cost about $40 for a van load, sometimes more and sometimes less.

For the Moon Palace Resort transportation, you will get off your plane, go through customs, and walk toward the glass doors straight ahead. You will pass through many sales people who want to talk to you about their tours and about timeshare properties in Cancun. Your destination is the Moon Palace Resort. You can always talk to the timeshare people at the resort. Your transportation, if prearranged, will already be waiting for you so you should go outside the glass doors and look for signs for Moon Palace Resort or a sign that says "Elite Tours" which is the tour group for Moon Palace.

The vans are usually white, marked Moon Palace or Palace Resorts on the sides, are air conditioned and are driven by locals, some who speak English very well and other languages, and others who speak very little of anything but Spanish. They are almost all pleasant, after all, they are hoping for a tip. They will load your baggage for you and unload it at the resort.

Feel free to ask questions if they speak your native language. They can be very helpful. The trip along the way is not very pretty. The land is flat and the road is a boring highway. You will oftentimes see hard working Mexicans in the very hot sun working hard on some type of project. I personally don't know how they do it, so I asked one of course. He told me that the might look like it doesn't bother them but they do get very hot. Most work in long pants too.

When you arrive near the resort you will pass through a security gate that allows you to enter the resort. We will cover what's next in another blog. Enjoy the slideshow.

Why is the Moon Palace Resort So Popular in Cancun?

The Moon Palace Resort is very popular in Cancun for several reasons.

1. It is a five star resort that is part of the Palace Resorts which own 11 other properties throughout Mexico.

2. It is a very large resort with over 2,000 rooms, 12 restaurants, a disco that is open until 3 AM, shopping on site and a magnificent spa facility a golf cart ride away.

3. The service at the Moon Palace Resort is excellent, even for as large a complex as it is.

4. It is family oriented. There is plenty to do for all ages, including for children under 12. There is a wonderful "kids club" which offers arts and crafts, games, and a fun time with other children in a safe, supervised environment.

5. The Moon Palace Resort is expensive, but you get your money's worth. You can travel in the off season and save quite a bit of money.

6. It is a beautiful resort and has the largest series of swimming pools in Cancun.

7. The rooms are well appointed and each one has a private double jacuzzi for your enjoyment. (see the picture above for what one of the bedrooms in the Presidential suite looks like.

These are only a few reasons to visit the Moon Palace Resort. You can see more on the Palace Resort website at http://www.palaceresorts.com/

Moon Palace Resort - How to Get a Great Discount

One of the ways to get a great discount on your stay at Moon Palace Resort is by booking your week through a Palace Resorts VIP member. The VIP members have purchased any number of weeks at a discount and for a small fee, they are willing to pass their discounts along to you.

Think of it as having a 75% - 90% off coupon. Each VIP member can ask whatever they want to allow you to use their week, but most charge between $120 and $200 for you to travel as their guest to the Moon Palace Resort.

Keep in mind that the VIP member gets a minimum of $700 off for each week that they travel so that would mean that you would be paying $700 more to book through Palace Resorts, unless they are running some type of promotion. Then you may get the same amount of money off your rooms, but you will not get all of the VIP benefits. Keep in mind that the price is just for the room, not for the all inclusive portion of your stay.

If you want to know more about what the VIP benefits are, you can visit http://www.dreamcancunresorts.com/ and go to the page that says Aventura Spa Palace Resort. On that page you will see a list of what is included with the VIP benefits.

If you want to find a VIP member, you can find them on Ebay (just type in Cancun or Moon Palace Resorts and on VRBO.com You will see quite a few members who are willing to give you one of their weeks for a huge discount price.

Moon Palace Resort - Free Wedding Planning

One of the most notable things about Moon Palace Resort is their generosity when it comes to offering free wedding planning. Can you think of a more fabulous place to get married then on the white, powdery sand beaches of Cancun, Mexico?

Moon Palace Resort is ready for the bride and groom to be. They have a fabulous gazebo that is set right along the ocean. The view is spectacular. They will help the new bride plan everything from the ceremony to the private dinner for two in the honeymoon suite. The key to success at the resort is making reservations well in advance and making sure that you meet all of the requirements they have listed to be legally married. These requirements are not their requirements but what is required by Mexican law so it is important to pay close attention to what you will need BEFORE you get to Mexico and find out that you won't be able to get legally married. Palace Resorts provides all of the information that you need on their website.
In the meantime, if you would like to find out more about what the Palace Resorts offer or about purchasing a Palace Resorts timeshare, you can visit http://www.dreamcancunresorts.com/ and click on the timeshare for sale tab (if it is still available) or http://dreamcancunresorts.com/moon_palace_resort.html to find out more about Moon Palace Resort.

Moon Palace Resort - Cancun Mexico Bargain Hunters

Moon Palace Resort in Cancun Mexico is a vacationers dream. My family and I have traveled to Cancun many times, and having owned a Palace Resort timeshare, we are priviledged to travel to any one of the 11 Palace Resorts offered.

Moon Palace is also highly rated at #21 out of 162 resorts in Cancun. If you go to trip advisor where returning travelers leave their comments, you will find mostly positive comments. Moon Palace consistently has a 4/5 star positive rating. Keep in mind when reading the reviews though that everyone views their experience in a personal way. Also keep in mind that there may be four five star ratings on March 27th where people rave about their vacation and about Moon Palace Resort, but there may be one review from someone who was there at the exact same time who thought it was the worst resort they had ever been to. I can't quite understand that, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I will caution the would be vacationer that for the average, middle class traveler, Moon Palace Resort (or any of the Palace Resorts) is expensive. It's not too much more expensive then average, nor is the price outrageous, but don't expect to stay at one of the Palace Resorts for much less than $325 per night.

You must keep in mind also that the Palace Resorts offers all inclusive packages. This means what it says. Everything is included. You could conceivably leave your wallet in the safe in your room the entire week and never have to take it out until it's time to return home.

With that being said, are there ways to find bargains for Moon Palace Resort? Yes. There are actually three ways you can save on your next trip to Moon Palace.

1. You can join a vacation club membership (one of the top rated ones on the internet today) by visiting http://www.grntimesharediscounts.com/ and it's sister site, http://www.amazingvacationsite.com/

2. Going to ebay and typing in Moon Palace Resort in the search bar. You will find VIP members like myself who may be renting one of their weeks. When Palace Resorts isn't running a promotion you will save about $600 off your week which is a pretty significant savings.

3. Visit a site like vrbo.com , called vacation rentals by owner. You will find Palace Resorts owners [Moon Palace Resort] owners who may be offering a great deal.

You will not regret taking a vacation at Moon Palace Resort.
